Last week's ballot |
Dropped Out: Central Michigan (#21), South Carolina (#23), Mississippi (#24).
- Texas remains my #1 team as they had an impressive win on the road this week.
- LSU remains my first one-loss team as their only loss was to Florida.
- I moved USC just below Pitt because of their terrible loss. I also moved Houston below Pitt because they barely beat a 5-4 Southern Miss team that lost to Louisville.
- South Florida and WVU barely stay in - partially due to the lack of quality two-loss teams.
- I really wanted to move Iowa down further, but keeping them as the worst undefeated team is punishment enough, I suppose. I have a hard time putting an undefeated team in a BCS conference below a one-loss team no matter how good they may be.
- Boise and TCU may be left out in the cold unless a pretty big upset happens. This is unfortunate, because in past years, they couldn't get a sniff because they started out too deep in the polls. This year, both started out ranked highly enough to have a legitimate argument. But with seven undefeated teams left at this point in the season, we may end up with more than two. Only one SEC team can come out undefeated, but that still leaves Texas, Iowa, and Cincinnati. Personally, at this point, I think Texas and an SEC team will come out unscathed to play each other for the national championship. Even if one of those two would stumble, an undefeated Iowa or Cincinnati would probably be ahead of Boise or TCU as both Iowa/Cincinnati at this point still can both gain quality wins (Ohio State for Iowa and Pitt for Cincinnati) while Boise/TCU cannot.
